Evergreen Fresh Sprouts Broccoli Recall: 22 Salmonella Cases Reported Across Four States

A recall of Evergreen Fresh Sprouts broccoli sprouts is drawing attention after federal officials linked the product to a multistate Salmonella outbreak involving 22 reported illnesses. Consumers in Idaho, Montana and Washington are being urged to check recently purchased sprouts, while illnesses have also been reported in Utah.

What Was Recalled

Evergreen Fresh Sprouts LLC of Moyie Springs, Idaho, is recalling 215 cases of broccoli sprouts because of possible Salmonella contamination. The affected sprouts were packaged in clear four-ounce plastic zip-lock bags with UPC 8 38796 00105 1. The listed use-by dates are September 7, September 9, September 11, September 14 and September 16, 2026. The company said the product was delivered to distributors in Washington and may have been sold to consumers in Idaho, Montana and Washington.

Outbreak Includes 22 Reported Illnesses

Federal health officials are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Bovismorbificans associated with the recalled sprouts. The FDA reported 22 illnesses across Idaho, Montana, Utah and Washington, including two hospitalizations and no reported deaths. Investigators said a broccoli sprout sample tested positive for the same strain associated with illnesses.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers should not eat recalled broccoli sprouts and should discard them. The FDA also recommends cleaning and sanitizing containers and surfaces that may have touched the sprouts to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Anyone who develops symptoms consistent with Salmonella infection after eating the product should contact a healthcare provider.
